Let our dentist Mariëtte Weijers help you! She specializes in helping people with fears, even if they are extreme. Mariëtte is known for her open ear, patience and expert approach. After studying dentistry, she completed a multi-year specialist training course to become an anxiety counselor. During this studies at the University of Amsterdam, she learned how to provide optimal care for people with anxiety. Since then, she has helped many people to overcome their fear of dental treatment.

Fear of dental treatment

Around two thirds of the population have dental anxiety - or rather: a fear of dental treatment. Fear can be an obstacle to going to the dentist regularly. Some people with severe anxiety - a so-called phobia - avoid going to the dentist for years. The anxiety can be so strong that daily dental care is neglected. The likelihood of problems in the oral cavity is then very high.

No matter where your fears come from: a trauma from the past or passed on by parents with a dental phobia. Together, we will do everything we can to make you feel relaxed in our dental chair again.

This fear is no reason to be ashamed. It is important to know that you can do something about it and that we want to help you. There are various (evidence-based) treatment methods that we can offer to reduce your anxiety and enable you to have a relaxed visit to the dentist.

The first meeting

When registering, you can indicate that you have minor or major anxieties. We will then send you a special questionnaire so that we can optimally prepare for your visit.

We will get to know each other at the first appointment. Here you can talk about your fears and wishes in peace: We listen. No treatment will take place during this consultation. Only if you agree, we will check your teeth with a mirror.

The cost of a short initial consultation with an initial oral examination is approx. 80 CHF. If necessary and desired, we will take 2 small x-rays (costs approx. 80 CHF). Please let us know if you are covered by social insurance so that we can organize cost coverage if possible.

Together we will draw up a non-binding treatment plan and with a cost estimate. The treatment plan includes everything necessary to reduce your fears and to preserve your teeth or, where necessary, to restore them to health.
